The new elementary school that will replace the current Foster School is set to open next fall. We are excited to see the building continue to take shape as construction is well underway. At this time, we are welcoming the community to share their suggestions for names of the new building.

We will complete two rounds of surveys. The first survey collects suggested names. The results will be shared with the school committee later this fall. After narrowing the names, we will provide the community with an additional opportunity to provide feedback on a narrowed list of names.

Once a name has been identified, the school committee submits a warrant article to the Selectboard to be considered for a vote at the Spring Town Meeting. Town bylaw states that naming a municipal building requires approval by Town Meeting.

The survey will be open through the end of October. See link:  hinghamschools.org/survey

Thank you for your participation in this exciting process!

No late buses on Wednesday

*******************************************************************

Today marks the 22th Anniversary of the horrific events of September 11, 2001.  2,996 people died that morning and in a 2 hour time span, the world as we once knew it, changed forever.  Most of you were not even born when all of this happened, but your teachers remember it vividly.  As we observe our moment of silence today, please take the time to remember the events of 9/11.  Twenty two years later there are still thousands of families affected by the tragedy.  And even though you don’t probably realize it, your lives changed that day, before you were even born.  A moment of silence please.

MOMENT OF SILENCE

The attack had a profound impact on the United States and the rest of the world. The U.S. Congress designated Sept. 11 as “Patriot Day” to remember and honor those who died. On this day, flags are set to half-staff and many observe a moment of silence at 8:46 am, the time when the first plane hit the Twin Towers.

Despite our shared grief in the aftermath of 9/11, hope, resilience, and unity lifted us up as a nation.
