6th grade soccer: In another battle between Viking teams, B Block defeated A Block 14-7 in a closer game than the score says. Scoring for B block were, Carter Kubec, Luke Gavin, Andrew Nolan, Cooper Schults and Cailine Texixeira-Porras.  A block goal scorers were Patrick O’Connor, Marcos Giannaros, Emily LeClair and Jae-Young Moon.  Next game will be after Thanksgiving break.

I have a reminder for all students about our morning expectations.  If you arrive at school before 7:20 you may either wait outside or come in by the gym doors and go directly to the cafeteria.  Students are not allowed in the hallways before 7:20.  Also, if you see a student or adult waiting outside by an entrance, DO NOT open the door for them at any time of the day.  Thank you.

Thursday’s soccer game between two Vikings teams started in a snow squall! The two Vikings teams had the same amount of participants. Vikings E block goals were scored by Troy Halvorson, Neil Deininger, and Matthew Oliver. The Vikings B block team scored ten goals. Luke Galvin and Carter Kubec each scored two goals. Andrew Nolan and Cooper Schultz each scored three goals. Vikings B block won with a score of 10-3. Good game played by both teams! Only three games left with just four teams remaining…..Monday’s game will be Vikings B block vs. Vikings A block  Come out to play and have fun!

It was a good match up between the Vikings A block and Greeks A block teams yesterday afternoon. The Vikings earned the participation goal with 12 players. The Greek team goals were scored by Lola Hendy, Charlie Veysey and Daniel Lovendale. The Viking team goals were scored by Mason Devine, Carter Lasch, Duncan Wilder, and Patrick O’Connor. The Vikings won with a score of 5-3.

The Greeks E block team faced the Romans A block team in soccer action on Monday afternoon. The Romans earned the participation goal with 12 players. The Greek team goals were scored by Elliot Sandifer and James Christofferson. The Roman team goal scorers were Oliver Sargent (2) and Lucas Coutinho(1). The final score was in favor of the Romans 4-2. Great game played by both teams. Both teams will continue on in the tournament as that was the Greek E team’s first loss.

Thursday’s soccer matchup was between the Greek A block and Roman B block teams. The Romans earned the participation goal. Colton Granoff scored a goal for the Romans team. The Greek team scored six goals. Taylor Bradl, Lola Hendy, Quinn MacGillvray, and Charlie Veysey each scored a goal for the Greeks. Emma Burke scored two goals. The Greeks won with a score of 6-2.

It was a close game played between the Greeks C block and Vikings B block that ended in a shoot out. The Vikings earned the participation goal. The goals for the Greeks were scored by Thomas Richards (3) and Grey Schlosberg (1). Cooper Schultz and Luke Galvin each scored a goal for the Vikings. Paige Jones scored the game winning goal in the shootout for the Vikings. The Vikings won with a score of 4-3.

The goal scorers for the Romans team were Corinne Granoff and Cameron Kittredge with one goal each. William Hetherington, Carter Kubec, Andrew Nolan, Cailine Texeira, and Evan Tomasello each scored a goal for the Vikings team. Thursday’s soccer game was back outside between the Greeks C block and Romans F block classes. The Greeks team earned the participation goal. The Romans team hustled all game with only six players and no subs. The Roman goal scorers included Chris Chisholm, Daniel McCarthy, and John McGunnigle. The Greek goal scorers included Thomas Richards with 3 goals, John Stevenson with 2 goals, and Emery Olin with one goal. The Greek team was victorious with a score of 7-3. Great hustle by all! There were many goal scorers on the Vikings team with Andrew Smallcomb (1), Bradley Mueller (1), Will Taylor (1), Bo Wilson (1), Abigail Cosman (2), Rory O’Neill (2) and Zoe Jones with 3 goals. Nice team effort! The Greeks were led by Chloe Murtag with 6 goals, Charlie Veysey,with 4 goals, Lola Hendy with 3 goals, and one each for Isaiah Garris, and Daniel Lovendale. Great defense and goaltending played by both teams as well.

Monday’s indoor soccer game was a great matchup between the Greeks B block and Romans B block teams. Both teams had nine participants each. The final score was 12-7 in favor of the Romans team. Graham Staples and Camille Enders each scored three goals for the Greeks. Scarlet Hanseth scored one goal for the Greeks. The Roman goal scorers included Colton Granoff (4), Niamh O’Brien (3) Caden Pedersen (3) Celia Tower (1) and Lexie Fernquist (1). Great defense played by both teams as well.

It was a close one the whole game with the Vikings team winning at the end with a score of 15-14. Frankie Conway scored 6 goals for the Vikings. Maggie Pollenz scored 4 goals. Blake Harris and Kwesi Oppong scored one goal each. The two goal scorers for the Vikings were Amelia Murgatroyd with six goals and Matthew Oliver with nine goals. Great game by both teams!

6th grade Soccer update: The Vikings B block had to forfeit to the Romans A block on Tuesday afternoon with a lack of participants. The two teams combined to play a fun scrimmage. The goal scorers of the game were Carter Kubec with four goals, Andrew Nolan and Oliver Sargent with three goals each, Carly Maguire with two goals, and Finnegan Bell and Cooper Schultz with one goal each. Tuesday’s game was played indoors between the Greek C block and Viking D block classes. The Vikings earned the participation goal and won the game with a score of 11-6.  Isla Hase and Grey Schlosberg scored two goals apiece for the Greeks. John Stevenson and Josh Greisner each had one goal. The Vikings were led by Zoe Jones with 5 goals and Abigail Cosman with 2 goals. Bradley Muller, Rory O’Neill and William Taylor each had one goal apiece. Great game played by all!

Well, here is your chance!  Hingham Middle School participates in a program that raises a species of endangered freshwater turtles each year from September until May. If you are interested in helping this year, please come to the informational meeting after school on Tuesday September 13th in room 305.   

You will learn about the turtles, and how you can help care for them through the school year.
