Social-Emotional Screening – Elementary

Hingham Public Schools has created comprehensive and lasting programming through a multi-tiered model of social-emotional supports for students in kindergarten through fifth grade, including the Tier 1 Toolbox Program. The Tier 2 universal screening will take place mid December and in late May of each school year.  The Student Risk Screening Scale-Internalizing and Externalizing (SRSS-IE) is completed by the classroom teacher who will rate students on 12 items. The results of these screenings will identify those students who may need additional consultation, small-group, and individual supports.  Feel free to view the screening tool. Parents may opt their student out of the screening by notifying their adjustment counselor in writing. Families will be contacted after each screening if your student’s rating indicates a need for support.  At that time, you have the option of moving forward with the recommendations or the option of not utilizing them.
