BUDGET WORK SESSION
January 30, 2014
The meeting was called to order by Ray Estes at 7:10 p.m.

Dr. Galo reviewed the Hingham Public Schools Budget Proposal Update for FY ’15 – Operating Budget Proposal Update from Administration, January 30, 2014.
The committee discussed identified needs for funding and budget priorities.
School Committee questions and comments: New elementary 2.5 FTE’s, HHS Counseling department, support for proposed FY’15 budget, two new HHS club advisor requests, support for elementary adjustment counselor requests, increased use of revolving accounts, focus on what’s best for students.
The consensus of the committee was to present the full needs-based proposal to the Joint Meeting with the Advisory Committee and Board of Selectmen on February 6, 2014.
Dennis reviewed the capital budget allocations for schools from 2006 to 2013, the request for Capital Outlay Committee to prioritize requests, the 4 line items that could be deferred, and the $50,000 cost of High School granite curbs that were required to be installed on Union Street by the Planning Board. The consensus of the committee was to prioritize the 4 suggested line items as #2, totaling $77,500.
