Message to High School Families and Staff from the School Committee

In light of recent events and correspondence received by School Committee members, it is my intention to clarify the circumstances surrounding the retirement of Dr. Paula Girouard McCann.

Last spring, Dr. Paula Girouard McCann requested a one year roll-over of her contract. The School Committee accepted that request and approved her contract. Subsequently, Dr. Paula Girouard McCann informed the Superintendent of her intent to retire at the end of the 2016-2017 school year. The School Committee proceeded with a district-wide transition plan for the senior leadership.

Dr. Paula Girouard McCann is a highly respected employee of our town and has faithfully served us as Hingham High School principal for 17 years. We thank Dr. Paula Girouard McCann for her many contributions and wish her all the best for the future.
