Through effective collaboration, two-way communication, aligned high-quality PK-12+ curriculum, innovative research-based practices, data-informed instruction, strong leadership, equitable and inclusive environments, funding for modern facilities, and a system of resources and support, we will cultivate an equitable, inclusive, innovative learning environment that empowers all students to contribute to their local and global community.

Strategic Objectives and Action Plans

1. Culture of Collaboration and Community

Objective: Create partnerships between home, school, and community through effective two-way communication to ensure an inclusive culture and a sense of belonging.

Action Plans:

  • Develop a district-wide communication and community engagement plan.

  • Align procedures for the updated policy manual.

  • Improve communication during critical transition years (Preschool to Kindergarten, Grade 5 to Grade 6, Grade 8 to Grade 9).

2. Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning

Objective: Ensure student success through aligned, high-quality PK-12+ curriculum, innovative research-based practices, and data-informed instruction.

Action Plans:

  • Develop innovative pathways to enhance student learning.

  • Implement Universal Design for Learning and provide professional development.

  • Create a Portrait of a Graduate, PK-12+.

3. Healthy, Equitable, and Inclusive Communities

Objective: Cultivate equitable and inclusive environments that promote a sense of belonging and well-being.

Action Plans:

  • Establish a system of support for social-emotional needs.

  • Provide professional development in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Update the Bullying Prevention Plan and establish procedures to report incidents of bias.

4. Capital and Finance

Objective: Allocate funding to provide effective, safe, and modern facilities and resources to enhance the student experience.

Action Plans:

  • Support the implementation of the Foster School building project.

  • Develop a technology plan to address infrastructure needs.

  • Complete a district-wide space needs study.

5. Human Resources and Leadership

Objective: Recruit, develop, and empower a diverse staff to lead courageously in teaching and learning.

Action Plans:

  • Recruit and retain a diverse workforce.

  • Design a mentoring program for leaders and an internal leadership program.

  • Provide collaborative preparation time for staff.
