TRADITIONAL PRE-K
Our Traditional Pre-K class is located at East Elementary School and will runs five days per week from 8:30am-2:00pm.
Our curriculum is theme based and follows the Massachusetts frameworks for Pre-School Children. The Classroom Centers encourage small group play with materials and toys related to the weekly theme. Center Time allows the children the opportunity to strengthen their social skills, improve cooperative play, and reinforce math, literary and science concepts. During large group activities the children are learning Kindergarten Readiness Skills, Listening & Language Skills, Cooperation, Patience and developing their Gross Motor Coordination.

BEGINNING FALL 2023
This is a full-day program running from September 2023-June 2024. Kids in Action programs follow the Hingham Public Schools calendar.

Eligibility
Children who live in Hingham and will be four years old by August 31, 2023, are eligible to enroll.
Registration
Registration for this program will open on January 23, 2023, and close on February 15, 2023.
This program has 20 slots and is lottery based. Lottery will be held live at Town Hall on February 17, 2023 at 9:00 AM.
*Preference will be given to families already enrolled in KIA.

Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity for outdoor activities, centers, and purposeful play as they learn and grow. A typical school day might follow this sample schedule:

Meet Our Staff
Our staff brings a genuine caring environment to our Traditional Pre-K Program. Our goal is to provide quality care in a safe and secure environment for each child. In addition, our staff is dedicated to serving the individual needs of the children by offering a variety of activities that will foster the development of a positive self-image; encourage the use of appropriate social skills; facilitate discovery and growth and provide abundant physical activities.

Karen Pratt
Team Leader
Mrs. Pratt has been at KIA since 2001! She has a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and Psychology and is EEC Teacher Certified. When she’s not at KIA she enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially her husband and son. She LOVES the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, Frozen, and Star Wars & Marvel movies.

Cathy Dyer
Teacher
Mrs. Dyer has worked at KIA since 2005. She has a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology. She is certified in PreK-3 and grades 1-6. When she isn’t at KIA, she enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 daughters and dog.
Elin Harter
Teacher
Mrs. Harter has a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University. Prior to joining KIA, she stayed home raising her two sons and was a substitute teacher. When she is not at KIA, she enjoys traveling with her husband and children.
