KIA Strings After School

The Kids in Action After School Strings pilot program will be offered for one 15-week semester at South Elementary School at a cost of $325.00 per child (does not include rental fees). Sessions will be held on Tuesdays beginning on January 31, 2023 and will be 45 minutes long. To register, please click on your desired session time: 3:15PM, 4:15PM or 5:15PM. This program is open to any 3rd or 4th grade students in the HPS district. No prior experience with strings is expected for participation. All students (3rd OR 4th graders) will meet for introductory, beginner lessons. Families are responsible for transportation to and from lessons and for arranging their own rental or purchase of instruments.

Instrument Rental Information

  • Please fill out the rental form at Acoustic Strings of New England and contact Jim Vinci at (508)527-3857 or AcousticBassJim@mail.com with any questions.
    • Families should select “instrument rentals” and fill out the rental forms for the monthly rate. KIA Strings prices will not be listed specifically on the website but will be applied. All instruments will be 1/2 scale in size. Families should not add accessories to their order, as the items that they need will be included with the rental. If families do select to add accessories, they will be charged additionally for them.
  • Special KIA Strings Rates:
    • Violin/Viola – $100.75 for the 15 week session (includes book, shoulder pad, tax and insurance service coverage).
    • Cello – $160.00 for the 15 week session (includes book, slip stop, tax and insurance service coverage).
  • Instruments rented through Acoustic Strings of New England will be delivered directly to South Elementary School and distributed to students on the first day of class. Please rent your instrument no later than January 25, 2023.

Payment Information

The KIA Strings Program uses a third party company, UNIPAY, for the registration process and the processing and collection of tuition and fees. The web-based portal system is easy and convenient to use and is used by many colleges, private schools and other public schools as well. The $325.00 tuition is an up front fee and does not include rental fees. YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE A UNIPAY ACCOUNT TO REGISTER. Payment must be made using Unipay. Mailed checks will not be accepted.
