On a motion by Andy Shafter and seconded by Ray Estes,
Voted: To authorize the Chair to retain Legal Counsel to represent the School Committee in matters related to the Fields Project.
Caryl Falvey noted a letter from the Chairman of the Board, Meadows Condominium Association, regarding the clarification that Ann Collins was not a representative of The Meadows on the Ad Hoc High School Field Study Committee and his request for a retraction. It was noted that when the Ad Hoc committee was being formed, it was always the intent to have a broad cross section of the community represented, including those from abutting neighborhoods who would provide input from the neighborhoods’ perspective. Ann Collins was the volunteer from the Meadows community.
Caryl Falvey noted a second letter from Rich Chamberlain about the Fields project with several questions. Carol Falvey will reply to him. Andy Shafter suggested that the school department maintain Questions and Answers about the Project on the HPS website.
Dot Galo shared the parent/community support offered to principals and staff for their communication to parents and preparations for school today, given the school shootings in Connecticut last Friday. Dot thanked the principals, staff, and parents for their efforts to ensure the safety of our students.
John Ferris requested School Committee reps for the concession building bid process. Andy Shafter, Ed Schreier, and Ray Estes volunteered.
On a motion by Ray Estes and seconded by Andy Shafter,
Voted: To adjourn the School Committee meeting at 7:00 p.m.
