Tara Boening Selected as Next Principal of South Elementary

Earlier this month, a screening interview team consisting of representatives from Hingham Public Schools administration, Hingham School Committee, South Elementary School parents, and South School staff, interviewed prospective candidates for the next principal of South School.

After a semi-finalist round of interviews with Superintendent Dr. Adams and comprehensive reference checking, two finalists were selected for further consideration.

In late February, the two finalists visited South School and met with a wide variety of people including faculty and staff, parents and community members, and HPS leadership. All groups then provided feedback to Dr. Adams.

After the extensive interview process, Tara Boening, M.Ed., was selected as the next principal of South Elementary. Ms. Boening will be replacing long standing principal Mary Eastwood as she retires in June.

Ms. Boening shared “I am grateful for the opportunity to be the next leader of South Elementary School. It was an absolute pleasure getting to meet different members of the South School community during the interview process, and I look forward to connecting with staff and families when I begin on July 1st. “

Dr. Adams expressed her gratitude to the South School community and conveyed excitement about Ms. Boening joining HPS, stating, “I am so grateful to the South School community for their warmth and generosity through this process. We are excited to welcome Tara to the South School village and our Hingham community.'”

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Boening on her appointment!
