This weekend, Christina O'Connor, HHS Social Studies teacher, Deirdre Anderson, Hingham Historical Society Executive Director, and Andy Hoey, K-12 Social Studies Director, presented at the National Council for the Social Studies annual conference in Boston.
Their presentation, Partnering with Your Local Historical Society: Student Engagement and Historical Thinking, explored how collaboration can bring history to life for students.

Today, we honor our courageous and selfless veterans for their bravery and sacrifices they have made in service to our country. 🇺🇸♥️
On Friday, South Elementary 5th graders led a memorable Veteran’s Day celebration. The event began with a procession of veterans, proudly led by the Hingham Militia group, followed by an all-school assembly where students and staff gathered to express their gratitude.
We are deeply thankful for all veterans - those who have served, those who currently serve, and those who are no longer with us. Thank you for your dedication and service.

Last week, our 7th graders had an amazing time at their annual Halloween party! 🎃 A huge shoutout to the PTO for making this night possible with their generous support. We had a blast!

Over 90 Hingham High student council members took part in a leadership seminar during yesterday’s early release. Students practiced key life skills like communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Yesterday, East, South, and Hingham Middle School students participated in mock elections, experiencing the voting process firsthand. 🇺🇸
Students from 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades operated replica voting stations, learning about democracy, civic responsibility, and the election process. Real-world experiences like these help students to become active, informed citizens in their communities and beyond.
A big thank you to our dedicated teaching staff for bringing this mock election to life!
