The Hingham School Committee voted unanimously Monday evening to appoint Acting Superintendent Kathryn (Katie) Roberts as the next Superintendent of Schools, pending contract negotiations. This decision reflects the committee’s confidence in Roberts’ leadership during the first half of the school year and throughout her career at Hingham Public Schools.

“We are thrilled to appoint Katie Roberts as our next Superintendent of Schools,” said Nes Correnti, Chair of the Hingham School Committee. “Over the past several months, Katie has demonstrated exceptional leadership, a collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to the success of our students and staff. Her extensive experience in Hingham, combined with her vision for the future, makes her the right person to guide our district forward. We look forward to working with her as we continue to build on the strong foundation she has helped establish.”

Roberts has already made a positive impact in the district through her collaborative leadership style, working closely with HPS leaders, teachers, students, families, community groups, and the broader Hingham community to strengthen relationships and build a sense of unity moving forward.

As Assistant Superintendent and Acting Superintendent, Roberts spearheaded key initiatives including strengthening the district’s multi-tiered system of supports, implementation of a new evidence-based elementary reading program, implementation of new high school pathway and dual enrollment opportunities, and development of high-quality professional development offerings. These efforts have demonstrated her commitment to supporting staff, improving student outcomes, and guiding the district toward long-term success.

Katie Roberts stated, “I am deeply grateful for the support and confidence of the Hingham school committee, staff, and families and look forward to continued collaboration with the community as we work together to ensure that HPS students flourish and thrive.”

Kathryn Roberts has been a valued member of the Hingham Public Schools community for over 25 years. She began her career as a middle school Science Teacher and has since served as K-5 Science Specialist, K-12 Science Curriculum Director, and most recently, Assistant Superintendent. Roberts is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Northeastern University and is also a Hingham resident and a proud parent of HPS students.
