Superintendent

Dear Hingham Public Schools Community,

It is my honor and privilege to officially begin today as the Superintendent of Schools. I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received over the past few months as I transitioned into the role.

I am transitioning to Hingham from the role of Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning in the Melrose Public Schools, where I proudly served for ten years. In this role, I was honored to oversee a strategic plan that included an innovative vision for personalized student learning. In addition, I have served as an elementary school teacher, principal, and district curriculum leader.

Over the past several months since my appointment in January, I have worked with the Leadership Team and others to learn about the Hingham community, which has included many meetings and opportunities to understand our schools’ strengths and needs. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Gary Maestas, Interim Superintendent, for all of his support during the past few months in the transition. I am excited to work collaboratively with our school community to build upon the many strengths of our educational programs. I am honored to lead us forward in continuing the mission of supporting all students to reach high academic excellence while also striving to develop the skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing global society.

I am honored and humbled to serve Hingham’s students, families, and educators as we strive to recover from the pandemic and develop a strong, innovative vision for our schools moving forward. Please look for opportunities over the coming months to connect with me. I look forward to hearing from each of you in the coming months.

Enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend and the summer months with family and friends.

Regards,

Margaret Adams, Ed.D.
