SCHOOL BUS ASSIGNMENT AND SAFETY RULES
(All school rules apply when students are riding on school buses)

  1. Arrive at the assigned bus stop in advance of the posted time for arrival.
  2. While waiting for the bus students should remain on the sidewalk or as far off the road
as possible until the bus has stopped and the door has opened.
  3. Keep clear of the area around the bus where the driver might not be able to see you.
  4. If you have to cross a street to get to your bus, wait for the bus driver to signal you
and then look both ways before crossing. Be aware of all traffic.
  5. Take a seat and remain seated until the bus reaches its destination. Make room for
    others to be seated.
  6. No standing is allowed when the bus is moving.
  7. Do not throw anything in the bus or out of the bus window.
  8. Pay attention to the instructions of the bus driver. Make sure that your behavior does
not distract the driver from the job of driving the bus.
  9. Keep the aisles clear.
  10. Normal, indoor voices are to be used at all times while riding the school bus. Be
courteous to the driver and fellow students.
  11. No eating or drinking is allowed on the bus.
  12. If you cross the road when getting off the bus, wait for the bus driver to signal you,
then pass in front of the bus at a distance where you can see the driver and the driver
can see you. Remember to look both ways before crossing.
    SCHOOL BUS CONDUCT PROTOCOLS
NOTE: Misconduct which threatens the safe operation of the motor vehicle
will result in the immediate suspension of busing privileges. A subsequent
offense will result in the suspension of busing privileges for the remainder of
    the school year.
Good behavior is expected at all times whether waiting, boarding, or riding the bus. This
is necessary to ensure the safety of all passengers. Parents of students are responsible for
their supervision until the student boards the bus in the morning and after the student
leaves the bus at the end of the day. When a student boards the school bus he or she
becomes the responsibility of the school system. Because the bus is an extension of the
school, the School Committee requires students to conduct themselves in the same
manner established for school behavior. The bus driver is required to report violations of
school bus rules and regulations to the building principal with a written bus conduct
    report.

Bus Conduct Report #1 – The student will meet with an administrator to discuss appropriate
behavior. A written warning letter, along with a copy of the bus conduct report, will be sent to
the parents of the student. The student may be given an assigned seat.
Bus Conduct Report #2 – The student will meet with an administrator to discuss appropriate
